Addressing the Nursing Staffing Crisis with Dr. Gail Tomblin Murphy

Join hosts Gail Donner and Mary Wheeler as they talk with Dr. Gail Tomblin Murphy, Vice-President, Research, Innovation & Discovery and Chief Nurse Executive at Nova Scotia Health and Director of the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre on Health Workforce Planning & Research at Dalhousie University. Watch and listen as they speak with Gail about the ongoing nursing staffing and human resource challenges in Canada, where up to 30% of the nursing workforce is out due to COVID-19. There is burnout and moral distress amongst nurses, and the situation is dire. However, there is also optimism that with the right strategies and investments, we have an opportunity to address nursing staffing issues, retain nurses and improve care delivery in Canada.
